When term’s over and I need some kayak time, Dave is my go to guide. Friendly, knowledgeable, and reliably calm on the water, he’s helped me build confidence while exploring different environments and techniques. All with a brilliant sense of fun and humour. I always look forward to my next session!

Never a wrong decision to have some time with Dave and book in a 121 or one of his experiences. I’ve had the privilege of spending time outdoors with Dave, and his depth of knowledge and calm confidence are immediately evident. He brings years of experience in kayaking and wilderness skills, but never with ego, super personable and genuine. Whether on the water, around a campfire, or in the middle of nowhere, he creates an environment where people feel safe, seen, and connected to others, to the elements, and to themselves. At the same time, there’s space to try new things, disconnect from your ‘everyday’ and push your own boundaries - whatever this means to you. Dave will create the experience you seek and adapt the conditions/instructions as needed. You’re in safe hands. My own experience was to improve technical skills on the water, and alongside the practical element of improving skills and confidence, I’ve had, and continue to have, a lot of fun, laughter and feel energised, with a dollop of clarity after each session.

Dave is an extremely good teacher – enthusiastic, competent and very patient. He instils knowledge in a practical and thorough way, and he is a very likeable person. We were complete beginners when he taught us to sea kayak two years ago. At the outset, my Wife was quite nervous; she does not generally enjoy teaching situations. However, on the second day we had progressed from wobbling and learning in the river - to being on the sea and tackling a 4 mile passage which was, at times, well away from the shore. On arrival back at the beach we had set off from, I had no hesitation in learning capsize recovery drill, such was the confidence I had built up. Since then, we have kayaked several times with Dave in order to learn new techniques and build miles. Each time it has been very enjoyable and beneficial, and each time we have been enthralled by his descriptions of the outward-bound activities that he pursues. We would have no hesitation in recommending Dave as a teacher of sea kayaking, and we would be confident that he would possess the same qualities regarding the other outward-bound and wilderness activities that he is involved with.
